Taranaki Winter Dreams

16 shot blended pano

Taken: Sunday 3 July 2022 at 10pm approx

Story: It was totally clouded over when I left the carpark for the 1 hour hike up to this location so I knew it was a long shot that I'd be able to get any good shots, but I figured it was worth trying and if nothing else it would be good exercise. I wondered if I'd see a kiwi again like happened on the way to this spot about a year ago. I had lots of warm clothes (it was close to zero degrees C and there were a few wisps of snow in the air) and all of the necessary survival gear (including a PLB). When I got to the spot the cloud was still there so I hiked on 30 minutes further to see if there were any better spots higher up. At this point the wind got so gusty and it started to drizzle hard, so I turned around and headed back to the original spot. As I headed back the cloud cleared and the wind dropped. For the next hour or so I had the privilege of shooting under clear skies and this image is the result.
