96 Percent Moon Rise over Mt Taranaki

Taken: 6 March 2023 at 8:22pm from Oaonui (near Kina Rd), Taranaki.

Story: It was pretty amazing and such a buzz to have all of my planning come together to once again be in exactly the right place at the right time to see the moon rising above the peak of the mountain. Earlier in the day the mountain was quite cloudy, so it was a relief that the cloud did clear up in time too. (The weather is always the biggest challenge - I’m lucky if I get 3 times a year when the mountain is clear to coincide with the full moon.)
This shot was 2 nights before the actual full moon, so it rose earlier than usual - in this case it rose about 20 minutes after sunset. This moon rise was also the first time for me to simultaneously video it rising and make a vlog just before and just after the event.
